Joshua’s wants to go home with family.

Joshua is 15 years old. He was diagnosed with a JPA or Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma in July of 2019. Recently, ( September 10th) he underwent a surgery to biopsy the tumor and shunting to remove excess cerebospinal fluid. He was on life support ( a ventilator) for 40 days.
He's made a lot of progress. He's now off the ventilator and though he's still being fed via a nasopharngeal tube, he's eating a puree diet.
He's a real trooper and a champion. The dss and hospital are preventing me, his mom, from seeing him except for 5 hours per week. This is tragic as Joshua is experiencing unnecessary emotional upset. After all the trauma of the surgery, ventilator, and being in hospital 100 days, another blow has been made to Joshua.
I'm asking anyone who reads this to please pray for justice for Joshua. And that his wishes to be home will be needed by the local dss and the hospital which is holding him, and disabled minor, as a prisoner without due process and with almost no visitation.
Pray Justice For Joshua.

This family has the victory now.
Leslie's Advocate is Jesus,
Joshua's Advocate is Jesus,
The enemy is commanded NOW to bow.
Jesus, Thy Word is spoken,
Hearts are no longer hardened,
The BLOOD is on each doorpost now.
When God's power begins to show.
Pharaoh commands "Let Joshua go.
I can't BARE your God's plague, so I must bow!"
Joshua is now set FREE.
His staff says, "VICTORY!"
No power can stand but God's super glory!
Now, Pharaoh, bows to God.
Joshua's faith is in his Lord.
and astounds all leaders, Yes, all three!
Jesus, Thy Word is spoken,
Hearts are no longer hardened,
The BLOOD is on each doorpost now.
When God's power begins to show.
Pharaoh commands "Let Joshua go.
He can't fight Joshua's God, so see him bow!"
(Ex. 12:31-32).

So sing Hosanna to our God, Who loves to exhibit His glory.
So people will know why He suffered and died and rose back to life again,
that it was to save us, pay our sin debt
and make us pure to enter heaven.
God's arm is never too short. There is nothing impossible for God.
Our Mighty God defeated the devil, took our sins and paid our sin debt.
And today He says, "Get up, Joshua!"
You have much more work to do with Me, yet.
And today, we gather to give God the praise;
for all power is in the name of Jesus, our Lord!
Because of His LOVE, our spirits are raised,
Hail to our Savior, the Miracle Worker and Mighty, Mighty God!
Short Synopsis / Timeline J. Gydos
Pre July 2019
I noticed Joshua had developed some issues walking, so I took him to multiple appointments at UNC orthopedics.
We also got him AFO leg braces from referral from UNC.
July 2019
Optometrist recommended I take Joshua to a neurologist. I wasn't under the impression it was an emergency, so I decided to allow Joshua and his sister to attend our family camp. The camp was something both children looked for to attend every year. I had planned to take Joshua to a neurologist after camp.
From what DSS alleged, I didn't take Joshua when recommended. However, I believe I did take him within a reasonable time frame. It was only 2 weeks from the optometry appointment until we were at family camp and after talking it over with my cousins decided to take Joshua to Levine Emergency Room in Charlotte, where he was initially diagnosed with BRAF Negative Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma.
June 22/23 Joshua and I were transferred via ambulance from Levine Hospital to UNC hospital, where there was a planned brain surgery. He underwent a biopsy and partial resection on July 23 at UNC performed by Dr. Carolyn Quinsey. She's no longer at UNC.
He stayed inpatient at UNC for 2 weeks after surgery and then was transferred to in-patient rehabilitation at Wake Med Raleigh, NC. He did approximately 2 weeks rehab there, then was discharged to home. He was sent home with a specialty walker to assist him in walking since he was left with ataxia after the surgery. He also was left with some mild vision deficits, including nystagmus and some horizontal gaze paralysis mostly in the left eye.
August- October 2019
At home in Burlington NC he went to outpatient rehab with Cone. He completed at least 6 weeks outpatient PT, OT, and speech. He did well, and I recalled the Cone therapists being pleased at his progress.
Between late 2019 and 2024, we did seek out naturopathic and holistic medical treatments. This included traditional Chinese medicine and high doses of vitamin C and vitamin B 17 , as well as hand compounded natural herbal tinctures. Dr. Stone, a naturopathic doctor in Asheville, provided part of this treatment.
Joshua kept progressing at home and walked frequently on the treadmill. In the warmer weather, he used our small outdoor pool to swim for exercise. He usually walked himself in a wheelchair. He could walk short distances on his own at times but normally used a walker in the house, and I assisted him also when needed.
Joshua enjoyed a very high quality of life between 2020- late 2024. Between late 2019 post surgery and late 2024. Joshua felt well and enjoyed a high quality of life. He only struggled with the ataxia / walking difficulty, which he was left with after the 2019 surgery. Recently, occuring headaches and intermittent nausea are what precipitated us going into Duke in September 2024. He had experienced headaches and some intermittent nausea a couple of weeks before going to Duke. We had treatmented the headaches with Tylenol and Motrin.
He entered Duke emergency room on September 5, 2024, and has been at Duke since then. After testing of the tumor cells Duke determined he has a BRAF Positive JPA tumor. He's been in the hospital for approximately 160 days- over 5 months. He was medically stable and ready to proceed to a rehabilitation facility months ago, but due to dss involvement, he's been stuck in a bed doing very little PT, or OT. Since my limited visitation, he's been withdrawn and depressed, many days hiding himself under his blanket. It's very sad , as he'd fought so valiantly, working hard in PT to regain strength after being on a ventilator 40 days and nights. Thankfully, he also has regained the ability to swallow / eat as proven by a FEES swallowing test, which he passed on or around December 9th at Duke. So he's currently eating purees and drinking by mouth. Though he still has an ng tube in place.
Going forward, my hope is that I will be allowed to accompany Joshua to Levine Hospital for Neurology Rehab. It may be necessary to petition the court for this.? Rehab is very important for Joshua. He's strong and capable of getting back his pre surgery abilities and more. He needs an advocate to get the optimal outcomes as he is still nonverbalsometimes. He needs his mom by his side as he has expressed verbally as recently as yesterday. In fact, yesterday, on Friday, Feb. 7th, he said, " I'd like to go home." I'm pretty sure this was witnessed by Brian Ireland, the ACDSS social worker who was present.
This is a short timeline and summary. I can, of course, expound and give more details.

This is a short timeline summary of events of the past 5 months.
Well after 202 days, Joshua is STILL at Duke Hospital! This saga has been quite a Rollercoaster of health concerns and legal concerns and emotions. The only way we have been able to be sustained is by our Lord Jesus Christ. 🙏
My heart has been broken over and over. If the dss court wasn't bad enough. The forceful pushyness they have used to coerce me to do certain medical interventions out of threat of court intervention is just wicked. The controlling spirits that exist within our government and within the medical industrial complex is outside the scope of reason.
My son has not yet gotten better under the "care of acdss or Duke. He has actually gotten worse. In my view the ACDSS and Duke, the state of NC are the negligent parties. Under their care Joshua has laid mostly in bed for the better part of 6 months / 202 days. He's developed acute necrotizing pancreatitis and a hematoma/ blockage in his digestive tract. They have him drugged up on continuous morphine drip. My heart is broken and my level of outrage is high.
When my son was home with me he enjoyed his life. He was able to do school, walk on his treadmill, swim, play arcade games, travel to the beach and other places, cook, eat.....Now he's not eating for months now. And he does 3 hours a week of PT. Some of this just involves sitting him in a wheelchair.
Im asking that if you read this, Please pray for Joshua to be completely healed and released from the hospital, the dss and be sent home with his mom and family as he has repeatedly requested.
Thanks you for your prayers 🙏
